Jump Ropes with Weighted Handles The most common type of weighted jump ropes are ropes with weighted handles. These can be adjustable or fixed weights. The adjustable weighted jump rope will have metal weights you can take out or put into the handles to adjust the weight of the jump rope. This kind of jump rope can provide a weighted resistance from 1 to 4 pounds.

Jump Ropes with Weighted Ropes This kind of weighted jump rope has the weight distributed throughout the rope. The advantage is that the rope provides more resistance since you are swinging more of the weight and it creates more momentum. These are also available in much higher weight levels such as a 15 pound jump rope. However, there is no way to adjust the weight and requires a purchase of a new jump rope if you want to increase the weight resistance.
